Dental Crown & Dental Bridge

A dental crown or dental bridge may be just what you need to bring that beautiful smile out of you once again.

There are many reasons a person may need to be fitted for a dental crown or bridge. As your local dentist, Oana Mierloi, DDS is committed to giving you your greatest smile, ever.

Despite one’s best efforts, tooth loss can occur. This means that restorative treatment, such as a dental crown or dental bridge, may be recommended to restore your beautiful smile.

Two of the procedures routinely performed in our office are dental crowns and dental bridges. If you are considering cosmetic or restorative measures, you undoubtedly have questions regarding these important dental procedures.

When we notice a tooth that’s appearance is in need of improvement, or otherwise shows signs of needing to restore the shape, size, and strength of the tooth, we will place a tooth shaped cap, crown, over the tooth. This is to provide protection and stability. Once fitted, the crown covers the entire tooth above the gum line. This technique greatly improves the overall look of your smile.

Before fitting your tooth for a crown, we will first reduce the existing tooth in size to properly fit the crown. Afterward, we will make an impression of the tooth, so an exact mold of the crown can be fashioned.

Dental crowns are available in a variety of material from metal to alloys to ceramic to porcelain. When you are fitted for ceramic or porcelain dental crowns, we will use a shade of color that matches your existing teeth for a natural looking smile.

On the other hand, if you are missing more than one tooth in a row, we may recommend a dental bridge. A dental bridge is composed of several crowns designed to fit the teeth on either side of the gap. These are known as abutment teeth. False teeth will fill the gap in between. These dental bridges are either supported by existing teeth next to the gap or anchored by implants.

A dental crown or dental bridge can fill in your smile and restore the self confidence that tooth loss can cause. You do not need to live with your hand over your mouth while talking. We are standing by to help restore your smile’s luster.

In fact, we offer an array of services designed for preventative care that will preserve your smile, by keeping your teeth healthy in the first place. We also offer restorative procedures, like crown and bridge work, to restore your smile in the event of tooth loss.

Filling the gaps in your smile makes it not only easier to eat, but it also provides a much needed boost to your self confidence. That is incalculable in terms of the benefits it provides. Studies prove that personal and professional advancement is keyed to the way others view us physically. As such, a gapped tooth smile can have severe social and financial costs.

Indeed, far from isolated anecdotal evidence, an emerging trend in hiring practices indicates that missing teeth is a leading cause of not getting hired or promoted. While the United States is a leader in the global innovations of dentistry, high costs and lack of insurance serves as a barrier to excellent oral care for nearly half of all Americans.

According to a 2012 study from the United States Senate Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging, this accounts for about 130 million Americans living without dental insurance. While dental costs account for just five percent of overall health expenditures, patients shell out approximately 45% of dental bills are paid out of pocket by the patient.

Here at Oana Mierloi, DDS, we are committed to providing you with the very best in dental care. We work with just about all major insurance companies to ensure that you get the coverage that you and your family need.
